If you're after 2 truly scary films though, check out the grisly French slasher flic, Haute Tension (aka High Tension) or the grandaddy of them all. when the kids first see the Creeper outside his house).
It's not too heavy, and not to light, and one of the better American horrors of the last 10 years (along with Blair Witch and Open Water imho) - that's why I bought it. You may have heard this about the Jeepers Creepers already but, this is commonly viewed as a film of 2 halves. There is no shortage of clever humor amid the shocks, gross-outs, and nail-biting suspense, and Phillips and Long exhibit a refreshingly believable brother-sister rapport. The film veers gleefully in all directions, referencing such classics as NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and even THE TERMINATOR, along the body-strewn way. Salva keeps the audience guessing by never settling into any particular style or formula. That's just the beginning of this wild horror film, directed by Victor Salva (POWDER). Derry (Justin Long) convinces his older sister, Trish (Gina Phillips), that they have to investigate, and despite all better judgement, they do. Plot, casting, and production details are unknown but Salva did offer up this quote, 'There may finally be some very good news for those waiting for the third Jeepers film to go before the cameras.' I really liked the first hour of the first film and didnt mind the rest of it, but have a hard time recalling anything about the second film. Gina Philips returns in a cameo as her character Trish Jenner from the first movie.
